*New Pool and Spa Barrier Laws
On 1 December 2019, new laws to improve swimming pool and spa safety came into effect in Victoria. These introduced new registration, inspection, and certification requirements for property owners.

As part of these changes, owners must register their pool or spa with their local council and have the safety barrier inspected every four years.

If a residential pool or spa in Victoria has a depth of 30 cm or more (300 mm), it must be surrounded by a safety barrier. This includes inflatable pools.
